Africa doesn’t have fast and reliable internet
Yes! Whilst Africa is a very large area and infrastructure varies wildly from country to country, our team are all located in area’s with built up infrastructure, reliable and fast internet. We often find that our African team have better internet than we do in Australia!
Africa has unreliable power
Whilst there are parts of Africa that do suffer from rolling blackouts, our team typically work from offices which redundancies and when they’re working from home we also ensure that that they have access to backup power in case of any issue.
Africa has poor working conditions
Also untrue, Africa has a significant urban population and our teams have access to WeWork and similar office environments. Our African offices are probably better than yours, sorry.
Some of the team are in Kenya, really?
You bet! Kenya has rightfully earned the nickname "Silicon Savannah", thanks to its inventive solutions, government initiatives, and strong financial backing – supporting infrastructure, education and start-up opportunities. Companies like Microsoft have pledged to train 1 million people in AI and cybersecurity in Kenya by 2027.
The time zone is a bit tricky.
Our customers are all over the globe which is one of the reasons we love working with Africa, they have great time zone coverage for most parts of the world. We also stagger our teams working hours to provide business hours coverage for customers in Australia through the USA.
Africa is good for Safari’s and mining. Not tech.
While it’s true that Africa has a huge mining sector and is home to some of the world’s most astonishing wildlife, Africa has a flourishing tech sector, fueled by a massive youth population (almost 70% are under 30). Africa is increasingly urban, with almost 40 percent of the population living in urban areas and more than 50 cities having a population over 1 million people.
